JAMMU/ SRINAGAR, Jan 11: As part of AICC’s nation-wide campaign, Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress today organised press briefings at all the district headquarters in both regions of Kashmir and Jammu, to intensify its campaign against the repeal of MGNREGA, which has replaced by VB G Ram G Act by BJP Government.
Organised by respective District Congress Committees, the senior Congress leaders appointed as Observers/ Coordinators by JKPCC for different districts and DCC presidents and senior leaders of districts addressed the media, highlighting the good features of UPA rural employment scheme- MGNREGA and the shortcomings of the new scheme of Modi Government to educate masses.
The main thrust of the speakers was the legal rights and guarantees of 100 days jobs to every rural jobless within 15 days of applicant approaching the authorities besides demand driven budget with no limit of funding in the ratio of 90% from the Centre and only 10% by States but under the new scheme the 40% of share has to be borne by the respective states, which will starve the scheme of funds by poor states.

At Samba former party observers, Ex- MLA Indu Pawar along with Gurmeet Singh and DCC chief Sanjeev Sharma held press briefing.
At Doda, PCC observers- Ashok Dogra Ex-MLA, DDC Imtiaz Bandey and DCC president Javed Lone addressed press conference. At Baramulla senior party leader and DCC president Iqbal Mir and in Kupwara DCC president Haji Farooq Mir along with others briefed the media-persons on the MGNREGA issue.
