Common platform for Govt services

The ultimate aim of any innovation, reform or introduction of digital services and facilities in the mechanism of delivery system of the Government is how Government services could best reach the public within shortest possible time, with ease and doing away with multiple layer procedural system. Jammu and Kashmir Public Services Guarantee Act can only then appear to be meaningful and effective besides a feel of having “sharper teeth”. The recent move of the Government via ”Jan Parichay” portal with multi-lingual accessibility and mooting a ”single platform” of Government services wherefrom papers up-loaded and hence submitted by the needy applicants pertaining to different wings of administrations and departments could automatically reach there to render the requisite services of the Government, is a significant step to cut on delays, botheration, fight red-tape and move further towards accessibility to services by the public from one’s comforts of the home itself.
Generally, too much of documentation, usually avoidable, papers, attachments, receipts, attested copies and the like while seeking a particular service makes it an uphill task for a citizen which is now sought to be put on the bare minimum under the much promising “Digital Jammu and Kashmir” programme when implemented vigorously and widely. Even making payments for any services which otherwise are mandatory too are ensured to be done in most transparent , e-payment mode in an easy and smooth manner right from any point wherefrom accessibility could be made. We feel fighting corruption cannot be done through conventional means only but making Government services and delivery mechanism fully digital, of course, with full general awareness, causes that lead to corruption in the system can be not only contained but stopped to a larger extent as there is no physical inter-face with the departments. So, more of digitization means more of transparency and more of facilities and with speed.
