JAMMU, Aug 12: Government of Jammu and Kashmir has constituted a high-level committee to finalize seniority at various gazetted levels in the Legal Metrology Department (LMD), amid ongoing litigation in multiple courts.
According to Government Order Number 80-JK (FCS&CA) of 2025 issued by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, the Committee will also investigate alleged submission of incorrect facts in a case pending before the High Court.
The seven-member panel will be chaired by the Director, Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Kashmir. The members include Controller LMD Kashmir; Special Secretary, Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Kashmir; Joint Controller, LMD Kashmir; representative of the Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs; and representative of the General Administration Department.
Law Officer, Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs will serve as member secretary. In addition, Farooq Ahmad Wani, Deputy Secretary, Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, has been designated as the Presenting Officer to the Committee.
The Panel has been directed to submit its detailed report to the Commissioner/Secretary within 15 days of the issuance of the order, without fail.
