JAMMU, Mar 25: Internal Complaint Committee Against Sexual Harassment (ICCASH) of Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu, in collaboration with SPARSH and NCC Club and Shikshit Bharat Committee under the aegis of IQAC organized an awareness drive on the implementation of the Fit India Initiative.
Resource person for the event was renowned Yoga instructor and founder of YOGATVAM, Sahil Mehra. Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Rajinder Singh was the chief guest on the occasion.
The awareness drive aimed to sensitize students about the importance of physical fitness, mental well-being, and the role of yoga in leading a healthy lifestyle. Sahil Mehra, Professional Yoga Instructor, shared valuable insights on incorporating yoga and fitness routines into daily life. Through an interactive session, he demonstrated various yoga postures and breathing techniques beneficial for stress relief, concentration, and overall well-being.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Rajinder Singh emphasized the significance of the Fit India Movement initiated by the Government of India, highlighting how small lifestyle changes can have a profound impact on an individual’s health. He encouraged students to adopt a disciplined fitness regime and embrace yoga as a way of life.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members, who expressed their keen interest in incorporating yoga and fitness practices into their routines. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, where Mehra addressed queries related to fitness and well-being. This initiative marks a significant step toward reinforcing the message of the Fit India Movement and fostering a culture of health and wellness in educational institutions.
Representatives from the YOGATVAM included Riya Gupta, Uma Bogia, Uttam Bogia, Simardeep Kour, Praguni Sanotra and Atharv Sanotra. The entire program was organized by Dr. Reena Rani (Convener ICCASH), Dr. Ashraf Nazaz (Convener IQAC), Dr. Deepshikha Sharma (Convener Literary and Cultural Committee and Shikshit Bharat Committee), Dr. Madhu Bala, (ANO NCC and Coordinator SPARSH), Dr. Rajni (Coordinators SPARSH) and Ravi Kumar (Physical Director).
