College teachers apprise Sarita Chauhan of their issues, demands

JAMMU, Nov 16: College Teachers Association (CTA) led by its president Prof D S Manhas, called on Sarita Chauhan, Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Department to discuss various issues regarding college fraternity.
CTA raised the demand of implementation of UGC guidelines which include framing of recruitment/Service rules and promotion through CAS, advance increments for Ph D/M Phil and other Higher Qualifications in favour of College Teachers, enhancing the age of superannuation of college teachers to 62 at par with the State universities and creation of post of professor in colleges, change of nomenclature of PTI, transparent transfer policy, recognition of college teachers in Cluster University, establishment of separate directorates of Higher Education at Jammu and Srinagar and separate calendar of vacations for Winter Zone Colleges of Jammu Division, release of pending salary of some college teachers.
The Commissioner Secretary gave a patient hearing and assured the association that a separate meeting of CTA shall be held, in which the concerned officials will be called to discuss and resolve the issues raised by the association.
The CTA delegation comprised of Dr Anil Ganjoo, Dr Vishal Sharma, Prof Rakesh Sharma, Prof Mala Bhasin and Dr Davinder Kour.
