Srinagar, Nov 3: College students are demanding the postponement of the mid-term examinations saying the September floods in the Valley have disrupted educational system.
While appreciating the Government for deferring all examinations till March next year, the students said holding mid-term exams this time will defeat the logic and wisdom of postponing the annual examination to March next year.
“Holding any examination at this time will only add to the stress that the students and their families are going through in the aftermath of the floods. Students are under immense stress due to the disruption in their lives. We have lost books, notes prepared with great hardwork in the floods. The text books are not available in the market as most of the book shops have been ravaged,” said Sakib Altaf, a student of Amar Singh College.
An official in the Kashmir University said that colleges might go ahead with holding the mid-term exam but the teachers would be liberal in their evaluation of the students’ performance during the year.
