Coldest night in Srinagar at -1.6

SRINAGAR, Nov 12: Srinagar recorded the coldest night of the season at minus 1.6 degrees Celsius today.

The Meteorological (MeT) Department revealed that Pahalgam, was the coldest in the Valley, where the mercury settled at minus 3.8 degrees Celsius.
Qazigund recorded a low of minus 1.5 degrees Celsius while the mercury settled at minus 2.0 degrees Celsius in Kupwara.
Gulmarg recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1.0 degrees Celsius. Kokernag, however, recorded a night temperature of 0.8 degrees Celsius.
The day temperature, however, continued to settle above normal except in Gulmarg, where the mercury settled at 8.4 degrees Celsius against the normal temperature of 9.2 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, Director MeT, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said that there is no forecast of any wet spell for the next one week, but the night temperature would remain almost unchanged till November 17.
He said that there is a possibility of a slight improvement in the night temperature after November 17 for two to three days.
