Col Mahan reviews educational, health services in Basohli

BASOHLI, May 24: DDC Chairman Kathua, Col Mahan Singh, conducted a comprehensive visit to several important institutions in Basohli, including DIET Basohli, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Government Degree College (GDC), and Sub District Hospital (SDH), to review infrastructure and services.
At SDH Basohli, Col Mahan interacted with patients who raised serious concerns about the lack of a dialysis unit. Presently, patients have to travel nearly 100 km to Kathua or Pathankot for treatment.
He also found that the solar backup and UPS system were not working due to missing battery banks, affecting power supply during outages besides hospital lacking a hearse van and the Trauma Hospital Mahanpur working without 102 ambulance service.
He assured that these critical issues will be addressed urgently.
At DIET Basohli, the Incharge Principal requested a well-equipped ICT Lab to train teachers effectively.
Col Mahan agreed that digital infrastructure is essential and promised to follow up with concerned departments.
During his visit to JNV Basohli, the Principal informed him about the shortage of computer hardware and electronic gadgets, which hampers students’ digital learning.
At GDC Basohli, the Principal highlighted the need for more classrooms and proper sportswear to support students’ overall development.
Col Mahan expressed concern over the lack of facilities and promised swift action. He said all matters will be taken up with higher authorities for speedy resolution.
The visit reflects his commitment to strengthening healthcare and education in Basohli and addressing public grievances with urgency.
