SAMBA, Feb 9: Samba police arrested a smuggler and recovered Rs 9000 counterfeit currency from his possession and approximately 1937.80 grams of cocaine worth Rs 19.37 lakh approximately in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bari Brahmana.
The drug smuggler identified as Dil Maohammed son of Ghulam Rasool of residing near Digiana Ashram Jammu has been arrested and contraband items seized.

A police spokesman said on February 3, a written complaint was lodged at Police Station (PS) Bari Brahmana by the Branch Manager Punjab National Bank (PNB), Branch Bari Brahmana regarding depositing of fake currency notes amounting to Rs 9000 by one Dil Mohd, son of Ghulam Rasool residing near Digiana Ashram, Jammu in the bank branch.
Acting over the complaint, a case FIR No. 59/2026 U/S 180/318(4) BNS was registered at Police Station (PS) Bari Brahmana and investigation started, he said.
During the investigation, the police obtained bank account statements of the accused Dil Mohd presently residing at Jalalabad Sunjwan district Jammu from J&K Bank, Branch Gangyal district Jammu and Punjab National Bank, Branch Bari Brahmana in the instant case. Scrutiny of these accounts revealed balances of approximately Rs 18 lakh in J&K Bank and Rs 2.40 lakh in PNB, spokesman said.
He said considering that the accused is a driver by profession and to ascertain the source of the substantial bank balances, the SSP Samba constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the chairmanship of SDPO, Bari Brahmana assisted by SHO, PS Bari Brahmana and others.
During the sustained questioning by the Police, the accused disclosed that he is selling Cocaine since long and had earned the this amount through drug trafficking. Further on his disclosure, Police has recovered two packets of Cocaine in cardboards wrapped with cello tape weighing approximately 1937.80 grams hidden in the garage of Jindal Cocoa Factory, Bari Brahmana where the accused was working as a driver. The police has seized the contraband item on the spot in the presence of a Magistrate, following due legal procedure. Accordingly relevant sections of NDPS Act were added in the case. Further investigation in the case is going on.
Arrest and seizure were made under the supervision of SSP Samba Virinder Manhas.
