CMO Reasi frames panel to probe bribery allegations against doctor

REASI, Sept 11: The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Reasi has constituted an inquiry committee to probe into bribery allegations against a doctor posted at Community Health Centre (CHC), Katra.
The action followed directions from the Deputy Commissioner Reasi after a viral video dated September 9 surfaced, alleging that the doctor had demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a female patient, identified as Nisha.
According to an order, the committee will be headed by Dr Gopal Dutt, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Reasi, with Dr Usha Kiran, DIO, Dy CMO Office Reasi, and Dr Savita Kumari, NTPHC Panthal, as members.
The committee has been tasked with conducting a fair and impartial investigation into the allegations and submitting its report by September 15, 2025.
Further, the CMO Reasi has directed the committee to present factual findings based on evidence and witness statements, prepare a chronological account of events leading to the incident, identify lapses if any, and recommend remedial or disciplinary action as required.
The report will form the basis for further necessary action under rules and procedures.
