JAMMU, Dec 25: CMH College of Legal Studies, Jammu organized an event with the aim of promoting awareness about transparency, accountability and ethical administration in public life.
DIG ACB, Vikas Gupta, was the chief guest while Chowdhary Zulfikar Ali, chairman of the College and former education minister, presided over the function. Meenakshi Salathia, Advocate, J&K and Ladakh High Court, and Uma Kapahi, Panel Lawyer, DLSA Jammu, were special guests.
The chief guest delivered an extensive lecture highlighting the core principles of good governance, transparency, probity, rule of law, and accountability as pillars of a strong democracy. He underscored the role of institutions such as the Anti Corruption Bureau in ensuring clean, citizen-centric governance.
Meenakshi Slathia educated the students about the RTI Act and the importance of independent bodies in maintaining transparency while Uma Kapahi emphasized the role of youth in making India a corruption-free nation. Kapahi also shared her insightful thoughts with the aspiring legal professionals.
Chowdhary Zulfikar Ali stressed the responsibility of law students in building a developed and transparent future for the country.
The session proved highly informative, especially for budding legal professionals, offering practical insights into governance mechanisms and the value of integrity in public service.
An interactive segment followed, with active student participation. The program was conducted by Kanwaljeet Kour and concluded with a vote of thanks by Administrative Officer Maitree Jain.
