KISHTWAR, Apr 18: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, laid the foundation stone of Jammu University’s Kishtwar Campus, here today.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister desired that the Universities of Jammu and Kashmir should establish Campuses to bring higher education at the doorsteps in all the areas of the State and simultaneously expand these to ensure consolidation. He further added that the University should have specialized Campuses and courses catering to the needs of all including the locals.
The Chief Minister, who is also Pro-Chancellor of Jammu University, assured that his Government would extend full cooperation and support for the developmental programmes of all the campuses.
Earlier in his address, Vice-Chancellor, JU, Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for graciously accepting to lay the foundation stone at a short notice. Prof Ishar reiterated commitment of the University for providing opportunity to all the people of the region to have access to quality higher education.
Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, Minister of State for Home, Industries and Commerce, R&B and Mechanical Engineering, Tourism and Culture also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier Prof Shohab Inayat Malik, Director Kishtwar Campus, delivered welcome address.
Prof Naresh Padha, Registrar, JU, in his formal vote of thanks, expressed his gratitude to the Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor for their commitment to extend quality higher education to all the people of the region.
Mrs Lida Singh Ishar, was special guest on the occasion.
