Cluster University organises Inter-College Fencing C’ship

JAMMU, Sept 26: Inter-College Fencing Championship for Men and Women, organized by the Cluster University of Jammu, was successfully conducted under the supervision of Government MAM College.
Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Director Physical Education and Sports at Cluster University of Jammu, was chief guest and he underscored the importance of students’ participation in sports and physical activities.
In men’s section, Government GGM Science College emerged as overall champion, scoring 11 points, followed closely by SPMR College of Commerce, which secured runner-up position with 10 points.
In women’s category, GCW Gandhi Nagar claimed championship title with a total of 16 points, while SPMR College of Commerce once again earned the runner-up spot with 9 points.
Ujjwal of GGM Science College was adjudged as best player in men’s section while Sanwari Rajput of GCW Gandhi Nagar earned the same recognition in women’s section.
The event was attended by Prof. Tarsem Lal, Convener Sports Committee at MAM College and Prof. Sonam Mehta, Incharge Fencing at MAM College. Others present on the occasion were Ravi, Physical Director of SPMR College of Commerce; Neenu Sahwney, Physical Director, MAM College; Neelam, Assistant Physical Director, MAM College and Kajal Premi, Physical Director, GCW Gandhi Nagar.
The matches were officiated by Bisham Singh, international referee; Javed Ahmed, international fencer and national referee; Anthony Mattoo, national referee and Rahul Sharma, national referee.
