JAMMU, Sept 26: The Department of Students’ Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ), in collaboration with Ramakrishna Mission, Jammu, organized a special programme to commemorate the historic speech of Swami Vivekananda delivered at the Parliament of Religions, Chicago on 11th September 1893.
The event was held at Government Women College, Gandhi Nagar, wherein Prof K S Chandrasekar, Vice-Chancellor of Cluster University of Jammu, was the chief guest while Ankur Mahajan, Registrar of the university was guest of honour and Swami Yajnadharananda, Secretary Ramakrishna Mission Jammu presided over the function.
Prof Daljit Singh Manhas , Dean Students’ Welfare, delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for the event and Swami Vijayesanananda invoked the spiritual fervour with the Swadesh Mantra, after which students from various schools and colleges presented speeches inspired by Swami Vivekananda’s ideals.
A significant highlight of the day was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Cluster University of Jammu and Ramakrishna Mission, marking a collaborative step towards value-based education and youth empowerment.
Prof K S Chandrasekar delivered an insightful address emphasizing Swami Vivekananda’s message of universal brotherhood and its relevance for today’s youth.
The presidential address was delivered by Swami Yajnadharananda, who inspired the audience with reflections on Swami Vivekananda’s vision for nation-building.
The event witnessed the presence of distinguished dignitaries including Dean Research Studies, Controller of Examinations, Deans of various faculties, Principals of GGM Science college and GCW Gandhi Nagar, Financial Advisor Nagesh Jamwal, Director IQAC, Director Extension and Outreach, NSS Coordinator, members of the Students’ Cultural Council, faculty members, and students. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr Revika Arora and vote of thanks was presented by Swami Vijayesanananda.
