CLUJ hosts int’l seminar on humanities and technology

JAMMU, Aug 22: Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ) today concluded its two-day international seminar on the theme “Text, Tongue, and Technology: The Changing Face of Humanities”.
Organised by the Department of Linguistics and Literature, the seminar brought together scholars and researchers from India and abroad to discuss the impact of technology on language and literature.
The valedictory session was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof K S Chandrasekar, who stressed the importance of interdisciplinary dialogues in shaping the future of humanities and education.
Guest of Honour, Prof Umapati Dikshit from Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, Agra, reflected on the evolving relationship between linguistic traditions and modern technology.
More than 80 scholars participated in 13 plenary and 14 academic sessions held in both offline and online modes.
Discussions covered topics such as digital archives, language preservation tools, pedagogy innovations, and ethical challenges in digital humanities.
Eminent speakers included Dr Loic Renoud from Japan, Dr Rahul Awasthi from Calcutta, Dr Serhi Petrenko from Ukraine, Prof Veena Gupta from Jammu University, Prof Sushant Mishra from Nalanda University, Dr Om Prakash from NEHU and Prof Kavita Rastogi from Lucknow University.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, recognising the contributions of faculty, students, and staff.
Organisers said the seminar created a vibrant platform for academic exchange and strengthened the university’s role as a hub of excellence in the humanities.
