JAMMU, Apr 17: A joint meeting of Jammu & Kashmir Ladakh All Departments Clerical Staff Association was held under the chairmanship of Babu Hussain Malik, State, senior vice president of the Association.
Others who attended the meeting including Khursheed Ahmed Dewani, Javed Ahmed Akhoon, Bharat Bushan, Madan Sangral, Seva Ram Rathore, Tashi Choswal, Yashpal, Sanjay Dhar, Vikas Sharma, Pawan Uday Singh Pathina, Pritam Singh, Mohammed Iqbal and Meenakshi Sharma.
The meeting condemned the State Government for deliberately backtracking from the commitment made between the employees and the Government in March 2008, February 2009, May 2010, and September 2011 in which it was promised to fulfill all the pending demands of the employees including removal of pay anomalies of clerical cadre but nothing has been done till date and described the Pay Anomalies Committee made by the Government as an eye wash just to befool the clerical cadre.
Addressing the meeting the members highlighted the demands and problems of the clerical cadre and termed the clerics as the back bone of the state administration who are working from dawn to dusk with full integrity and dedication.
But the cadre has been given a step motherly treatment in way of salaries and other perks. The meeting said that in the Fifth Pay Commission the pay scale of Pathwaris, teachers, medical assistants and other cadres were upgraded from their existing scales but the clerical cadre employees were deprived of the same till date.
Moreover the Government has changed the basic qualification of clerical cadre from time to time and presently no one is appointed to the post who is not a graduate and does not possess a certificate course in computer. Under these circumstances the clerical cadre needs to be given their due.
Mr Malik sought the intervention of Chief Minister and Finance Minister in the matter.
