NEW DELHI, Apr 3: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) has urged political parties to clear their stand on long awaited return and rehabilitation issue of displaced Kashmiri Pandits in their manifestos.
KPC chief, Kundan Kashmiri in a statement today said that his organisation in a meeting here has made an appeal to all political parties in general and BJP in particular to clear their stand on the return and rehabilitation of displaced Pandits leading an exiled life for over 34 years now.
KPC has made an appeal to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and BJP chief, J P Nadda in this regard that they should mention in their party manifesto that what their party has for displaced KPs in its manifesto especially how it is going to address their long standing demand of one place settlement in Kashmir by carving out a Kashyap State.
Kashmiri stated that 34 years displacement of a community from their homeland is a serious issue and political parties should not treat every issue as vote bank angle. An ancient civilization of India which has played a great role in shaping the Indian aesthetics for centuries together is at the verge of extinction by the follies of previous governments both at Centre and in the State.
He said the community has pinned high hopes in present Government which has taken many out of box decisions in the larger national interests right from taking reins of Government in 2014 and it is hoped that BJP will keep the pending issues especially dignified return and rehabilitation of the community in its poll manifesto. He also made an appeal to other parties that they should also keep this issue in their poll manifesto in the larger interests of justice and fair-play.
He said besides one place settlement, the KPs be recognised as indigenous citizens of Kashmir, constitution of Commission of Inquiry to probe ethnic cleansing, grant of internally displaced status, special financial package and compensation, protection of shrines and temples, restoration of land and properties, representation in Parliament, special attention be paid to PM package and other Hindu employees working in Valley by providing them fool proof security and accommodation.
