KATHUA, June 2: A Class 2 student was rushed to Government Medical College Kathua today after he was allegedly beaten mercilessly by his teacher at a private school in Karai area of the district on Sunday.
The child’s father, Raghubir Kumar, a resident of Jarai, said his son studies at TCM Thousand Candle Model School.
He alleged that the class teacher, identified as Manu, thrashed the boy with a stick, leaving visible injury marks.
According to the family, when they approached the school management to complain about the incident, they were ignored. They then approached the police and took the child for medical treatment.
The boy’s mother and other relatives also reached GMC Kathua and narrated the entire incident to the police.
A police team arrived at the hospital and recorded the statements of the parents and the injured student.
The family has demanded the immediate arrest of the teacher responsible for the assault.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognisance the incident and are investigating into the matter.
