Class 10th student among 2 killed, 8 injured in road accidents

JAMMU, July 30: Two persons including a class 10th student was killed while eight others were injured today in two separate road accidents in city outskirts.
According to a police official, a class 10 student namely Shabana Bano (16) daughter of Aftab Ahmed, resident of Channi Rama, received serious injuries this morning when a rashly driven Tata Sumo bearing registration number JK13-5320 which was on its way from Nowabad to Sunjuwan, hit her near Sunjuwan on National Highway, when she was on its way to school on foot.
He said the severely injured girl was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where she was declared as brought dead by the doctors. Later, after postmortem the body was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites while the Sumo involved in the mishap was seized and a case was registered at police station Channi for further investigation.
Meanwhile in Pallanwala area of Akhnoor, a tipper bearing registration number JK02AL-1266 collided with a mini-bus (registration number JK02Q-1956). In the mishap, a passenger died on the spot while eight others suffered injuries. The body of the deceased as well as all the injured persons was shifted to a Government Hospital Pallanwala from where three seriously injured persons were shifted to GMC Jammu whereas the body was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites.
The deceased person was identified as Bishamber Dass (70) son of late Kirpa Ram, resident of Battal and those referred to GMC Jammu were Harbans Lal (45) son of maru Ram, resident of Thaker (Kharah Balli), Arti Devi (18) daughter of Pritam Lal, resident of Seri-Pali and Anil Kumar (18) son of Anant Ram, resident of Kalah (Khour).
The remaining five injured were Samatri Devi (70) wife of Parma, resident of Millan-Di-Khoi, Priya Sharma daughter of Suram Chand, resident of Seri-Pali, Suresh Sharma son of Bachan Lal, resident of Dhaker (Mageri), Hans Raj son of Amar Nath, resident of Seri-Pali and Sudesh Kumari wife of Harbans Lal, resident of Seri-Pali.
A case FIR number 42/2019 under Sections 279, 337, 304A was registered in this connection at police station Khour and both the vehicles involved in the accident were seized.
