CJI to be conferred Honoris Causa

JAMMU, Mar 19: Vice-President of India, Mohd Hamid Ansari will be chief guest in the 16th Convocation of Jammu University on April 2, wherein Chief Justice of India, T S Thakur will be conferred  Degree of Law (Honoris Causa).
Governor N N Vohra, who is also Chancellor of the University, will confer the Honoris Causa to Justice Thakur for his outstanding legal acumen and contribution to the advancement of Constitutionalism and the Rule of Law and for upholding the Majesty, Integrity and Dignity of the Judicial Seat.
On the occasion, the Governor will also confer 104 PhD Degrees and 88 Gold Medals to the recipients of the year 2014.
According to an official spokesman, the Vice-President of India has accepted the invitation of Governor N N Vohra to be the chief guest in the Convocation and deliver the Convocation Address on the occasion.
Meanwhile, preparations for successful conduct of the Convocation are in full swing and Jammu University has formed separate committees to take care of different activities in connection with the mega event.
These organizing committees are giving final touches to the assigned responsibilities in association with each other while Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma is personally monitoring all the arrangements.
Two days ahead of the Convocation, rehearsal of the event will be held on March 31.
