City cartoonist achieves rare feat

JAMMU, Nov 3: A noted cartoonist and theatrist of the city, Chander Shekhar got rare recognition for his work at the highest level when one of his cartoons was included in the annual edition of the compilation of finest cartoons across the country.
The book, a compilation of best caricatures during the years by professional and amateur cartoonists was dedicated by the President, Pranab Mukherjee as a tribute to celebrated cartoonist of the country, late P K S Kutty.
Expressing his gratitude on inclusion of his work alongside the greats of the trade, Shekhar said, “nothing can be more satisfying for me than the fact that my work features along with those whom I have emulated and admired all my life”. The book includes cartoons of greats like Bagga, Guzzrppa Pacific Kulkarni, Prashanth Kulkarni, AV Pareshnath, Nishant Thcrublaru, Karthik Kttanaru, Jagjit Rana, Dr Rohnit Four, Chander, James Mulodi, Sudhir Nath, Anil Vega, Abba Vjur, Anoop Radhakrishnan of Ritis, Vinita Vasu and others.
It is pertinent to mention here that another cartoonist of the city, Manoj Chopra also achieved this feat five years back. Shekhar has made some thought provoking contributions in several Dailies of the State. He is an art teacher in the BSF, Senior Secondary School, Jammu.
