Sethi assures tanker supply

JAMMU, Aug 28: Residents of Peerkoh Circular road have expressed serious concern over the acute water scarcity in the area for over one week and total blackout for last four days.
The delegation of people led by Sanjay Kumar and Raj Kumar Jain said that the authorities of both Jal Shakti and PDD have left them in lurch with the problems of residents compounding day by day especially during last four days of heavy rains and landslides.
They alleged that the water supply pipe which was damaged over a week back has not been restored by the Jal Shakti Department despite their repeated pleas with the result people are fetching water from a distance of one km. They said heavy rains coupled with power and water crisis has turned their lives into hell.
They said that despite taking up the issue with PHE authorities number of times, they failed to restore the water supply in the area.
When contacted MLA Jammu East, Yudhvir Sethi said that tanker water will be supplied to the inhabitants of the area from tomorrow till the piped water supply is restored.
Sethi also assured the residents that the power supply will be restored in the locality by the night. He also issued instructions to both PHE and PDD authorities to look onto the problem of the people of the area and solve them on war footing basis.
Meanwhile All India Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AIMCCC) chairman, Desh Rattan Pandita said that water and power supply remains totally disrupted in Jagti township and no steps are being taken to restore the same.
Pandita said that the water crisis in Jagti township is an old problem which the department failed to solve over one decade while the power supply was snapped due to recent heavy rains and flash floods and till date it was not restored with the result the inmates of the township re facing hardships.
