JAMMU, Aug 24: CII J&K State Council, in collaboration with MIET and Department of Commercial Taxes, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, organized a session to sensitize and create awareness on the national and state perspective of GST.
Anoo Malhotra, Additional Commissioner, Commercial Tax ( Admn) was the chief guest for the session along with Arvind Sahni and Neeraj Sharma from Commercial Tax Department to address and answer the queries of Management staff and students of MIET.
Rahul Sahai, Chairman, CII J&K State Council, while speaking on the occasion, presented the industry perspective stating that to help prepare the industry for GST, CII has also been organizing GST training workshops and educational seminars in various cities.
He said, “CII has organized various initiatives in order to increase awareness about GST. CII has been granted Approved Training Partner (ATP) status to impart GST training by National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics (NACEN) with Institute of Company Secretaries of India. We have also setup a CII Northern Regional GST Helpdesk. The queries of members are getting solved within 24 hours”.
Anoo Malhotra in her address gave a very detailed presentation on the overview of GST, very specifically focused on each thrust sector of the State. She also explained the online and daily transactions that are put in place after the implementation. She stressed upon the various scenarios for various industries under the GST regime.
Earlier in his welcome address, Dr Ankur Gupta, Director MIET stressed that implementation of GST is a win-win situation for everyone. He further added that “GST is the biggest taxation reform in the economic history of the nation and is a comprehensive step towards unifying the national goods and services market shall lead to a simplified, assesse-friendly tax administration system.”
Maj General (Retd) SK Sharma, Brig (Retd) P N Sharma, Arvind Sahni, Neeraj Sharma from Commerical Taxes Department, Vivek Bhardwaj, Management staff and students of MBA and Engineering department were part of the seminar.
