The awareness workshops was structured to cover the growers, aggregators, processors, logistics players, exporters, pack house owners and warehouse operators.
The growers and farmers raised various issues of concern during the interaction and also gave their valuable suggestions. The committee agreed to incorporate the suggestions and concerns in the proposed policy with a view to ensure their welfare as well as sustaining their security and safety in times to come.
Due to lack of administration and professional accountability of Jammu’s production, the grading remains unknown with no scientific methods to measure food quality, Anuradha said.
She also appealed to the upcoming growers and farmers to remain well aware with running schemes and rest sanctions can be procured from Department of Horticulture. She also mentioned that Schemes relating to Cold Chain of Government of India should be explored to dovetail with state level schemes. She said the different wings of Government should work towards providing a platform to progressives farmers of the state. She also requested that industry members of J&K should come forward and invest in Cold Chain infrastructure to provide facilities to farmers of the Jammu region since they lack budget.
