Cops continue crackdown on OGWs

JAMMU, Nov 10: The Counter Intelligence wing of the CID today conducted a surprise raid and search operation at Dhangri Jail in Rajouri district with a view to prevent any unlawful or suspicious activities inside the jail premises.
During the operation, all barracks of inmates-particularly those involved in terrorism and narcotics-related cases-were thoroughly frisked. The belongings of the inmates were checked to detect any objectionable or prohibited items, the officials said operation.
However, no suspicious material or objectionable items were recovered during the search.
Officials stated that such operations are being regularly conducted to dismantle any possible nexus between jailed terrorists or narcotics-related accused and their handlers, helpers, or sympathizers operating outside.

“These preventive measures are part of a broader security initiative aimed at maintaining strict vigilance, curbing illegal communication channels, and ensuring that jails do not become safe havens for anti-national or criminal networks,” the officials said.
Meanwhile, the district police Ramban continued its ongoing crackdown on the sympathizers and associates of Jammu and Kashmir Native Operating from Pakistan/ PoJK (JKNOPs), including their Over Ground Workers (OGWs) operating within the district for second day today.
:As part of the heightened security measures, cordon and search operations and special checking drives have been launched across Ramban, Banihal, and Gool subdivisions followed by action against individuals and entities with the potential of extending any kind of logistical or communication support to anti-national elements by way of preventive policing,” the officials said.
In addition, police teams have intensified inspections of SIM card vendors throughout the district to ensure strict compliance with verification norms and to curb the misuse of communication networks by criminal elements.
