RAJOURI, Mar 30: The drainage system within the Municipal limits of Rajouri, particularly near the District Police Lines (DPL) Rajouri, has become severely choked, leading to the accumulation of waste/ garbage on the road and presenting an extremely unhygienic and unbearable condition in the area.
Locals have expressed serious concern over the negligence, stating that the blockage in drains has resulted in overflow of dirty water and garbage on the main road. The stretch, being one of the important routes in the town, witnesses regular movement of commuters, thereby, amplifying the inconvenience caused to the public.
Despite the significance of the road, residents allege that no proper measures have been taken by the Municipal Committee Rajouri to ensure regular cleaning and maintenance of the drainage system. The lack of timely de-silting and waste management has contributed to the present situation.
The residents have urged the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to clear the choked drains, ensure proper waste disposal, and implement a regular monitoring mechanism to prevent recurrence of such issues. They emphasized that maintaining cleanliness and proper drainage is essential for the health, hygiene, and overall image of the city.
