BEIJING, June 30: The Chinese Communist Party’s membership stood at nearly 100.3 million as of the end of 2024, according to statistics from the Organization Department of the CCP Central Committee.
The latest data was released ahead of the 104th anniversary of the founding of the CCP, which China will celebrate on July 1. As of December 31, 2024, the number of CPC members was 100.271 million, up 1.086 million or 1.1% from the end of 2023.
There are 30.995 million women members in the CCP, accounting for 30.9% of the total party membership. Ethnic minorities number 7.7% of the total party membership, or 7.734 million.
The CCP has 12.272 million members aged 30 and under, 10.764 million aged 31-35, 11.474 million aged 36-40, 9.687 million aged 41-45, 9.041 million aged 46-50, 9.412 million aged 51-55, 8.646 million aged 56-60, with the largest age group of its members being 61 and over, at 28.973 million.
The anniversary of the CCP’s founding is celebrated on July 1, although the date is not exact and was established much later due to lost records. The CCP was founded during its first congress in 1921, which, according to official documents, was held from July 23-31 in Shanghai. For a long time, the exact date of the meeting remained unknown due to a police raid, during which many documents were lost. It was only in the 1950s that the Soviet Union gave China records containing information about the dates of the first congress. At the time of its founding, the CCP had about 50 members.
The CCP is one of the few communist parties in the world that has managed to maintain power in the 21st century. According to many analysts, the CCP is currently at the peak of its power.
