China to expand cooperation on new energy sources with Saudi Arabia

BEIJING, Aug 27: China is ready to expand cooperation in the field of new energy sources with Saudi Arabia, Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao said.

On Tuesday, a meeting took place in Beijing between Wang and Saudi Investment Minister Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih.

“China is ready to expand bilateral trade with Saudi Arabia, strengthen bilateral investment cooperation, and expand cooperation in the field of new energy sources,” Wang was quoted as saying by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday.

China and Saudi Arabia should jointly uphold international economic and trade rules, firmly support the multilateral trading system, and implement true multilateralism through open cooperation, the minister added.

According to the International Energy Agency’s global energy review published in March 2025, renewable energy sources accounted for the largest growth in global energy supply (38 percent), followed by natural gas (28 percent), coal (15 percent), oil (11 percent) and nuclear energy (8 percent).(UNI)
