SAMBA, June 25: A 12 year old child was electrocuted here today near a bridge on Basantar River and his friend was left seriously injured.
According to sources, both the boys had gone to the river for playing and all of a sudden they came in contact with 11,000 volt wire after which one of the boys died on the spot and the other was left injured.
After getting the information cops and power department officials reached the spot.
The injured boy was brought to District Hospital Samba from where he was referred to AIIMS.
The deceased child was identified as Sumit Kumar, 12, son of Rameshwar Kumar, resident of Masoliya, district Gonda, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh and the injured was Gopala, 10, son of Amit Kumar, resident of district Etawah, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Both boys belonged to labour families living in rented houses in Chak Manga Rakwal.
Police has registered a case in this regard and started investigation.
After post-mortem and other legal formalities body of the deceased was handed over to the family members for last rites.
