Chib exhorts teachers to develop discipline among students

JAMMU, Aug 27: Recognizing the significance of discipline in educational institutions and social life, Minister for Medical Education, R S Chib today emphasized the need for strong initiatives by the Government as well as the educational institutions to develop the subtle art of self-discipline and self-constraint among the students which is the key to success.
Releasing Udaan, a magazine of the Degree College R S Pura here this afternoon, the Minister said,  “Student life is the formation period of life when the man grows with the habits and manners which hardly change, so a student should be much disciplined both at school and home to rise high in life.”
Urging parents, teachers and elders to pay complete attention towards the budding citizens of the nation, he said that talent and genius alone are not enough to achieve success but discipline has an equally important role to play as talent blossom only in a disciplined person.
The Minister, however, said that since teachers remain more in contact with children from their tender age, they can nourish them properly and carve their minds in such a way that they can help making the world a better place to live in.
He expressed dismay over declining discipline due to discontentment among the students and stressed on the need to improve atmosphere in the educational institutions. He asked the students to optimally utilize the available facilities, which the people lacked in old days, to excel in acquire knowledge based education which is the only tool to achieve success in every aspect.
Describing magazines as a mirror of student life and reflection of the academic standards of a particular institution, the Minister hoped the students will benefit from this platform and get adequate training in concentrating their thoughts and ideas.
Later, the Minister planted a sapling in the college premises as part of week long plantation drive which concluded here today.
The Minister also announced Rs 5 lakh for raising sports facility in the college.
