Chhari Mubarak reaches Panchtarni, to perform darshan at holy cave today

JAMMU, Aug 8: Chhari Mubarak – the silver mace, one depicting Lord Shiva and another Goddess Parvati reached Panchtarni, the last camp enroute to Himalayan cave at a height of 3880 metre in South Kashmir district of Anantnag this afternoon from Sheshnag.

Led by Mahant Deependra Giri Ji, the sole custodian of holy mace and accompanied by Sadhus and devotees, the Chhari Mubarak started its journey from Sheshnag camp early this morning and trekked the treacherous Maha Gunas peak also known as Ganesh peak which is at the height of over 15,000 feet from sea level.
The Sadhus and devotees were chanting Har Har Mahadev all the way. They were escorted by a bid contingent of security forces to ensure the safety and security of holy mace.
Earlier, Chhari Pujan was performed at Sheshnag lake in the morning in a traditional way by Mahant Ji and Sadhus. After the evening Aarti and a night halt at Panchtarni the holy mace will leave for cave shrine early tomorrow morning.
The holy mace will hold day long Puja and perform other religious rituals in a traditional manner at cave shrine. Mahant Ji said the prayers will be held for peace and brotherhood in J&K and human prosperity across the globe.
He said Shri Amaranth Ji Yatra is one of the ancient and toughest pilgrimages of the country which has been started from Purnaic age. He said the ancient Hindu scriptures especially Bringeshwar Puraan has description of the same. “This is the place where Lord Shiva narrated Amarkatha to Goddess Parvati’’. Lord Shiva told her how a human being can get rid from the bondage of life and death.
After performing religious rituals at cave shrine, the holy mace will return to Panchtarni tomorrow evening. From Panchtarni, it will leave for Pahalgam next day.
It will reach Pahalgam in the evening of August 10 and next day after performing immersion of relics and other ceremonies in the river Lidder, the Sadhus and devotees will be served Prashad and in the evening the holy mace will return to its abode Dashnami Akhara Srinagar. With it, this year’s annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath Ji will culminate.
It may be recalled that holy mace had started its journey from Dashnami Akhara, Srinagar to cave shrine on August 4.
