JAMMU, Apr 13: With the basic idea of reviving the old traditional route of Vaishno Devi Ji, a Chari Yatra was flagged off today by Rakesh Wazir, president, Hotel and Restaurant Association (HRA), Katra at Kol Kandoli Nagrota, the first Darshan of old traditional route.
A large number of people including ladies, irrespective of caste, creed or religion, participated in the Flagging-off ceremony. The Chari Yatra after passing through Jagdamba Mata Temple, Kheer Bhawani Temple, Maha Lakshmi Temple, Pangali, Shiv Mandir, Thanda Pani, Gondla Kali Mata Mandir and Ram Darbar Bamyal halted today at Oli Mata Temple.
The Chari Yatra has been organized by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Pracheen Marg Committee under the overall supervision of its president, Kuldeep Raj Luthra, vice president, Kartar Chand and secretary, Jagdish Raj.
Rakesh Wazir while speaking on the occasion said that with the revival of this old traditional route and making of bridge at Bamyal which was sanctioned recently by then Advisor to Governor, Parvez Dewan and upgradation of Katra -Kol Kandoli Nagrota route via Bamyal and Katra -Akhnoor route via Mathwar the distance between Katra to Akhnoor, Mathwar, Sunderbani, Poonch and Rajouri will decrease by 40 kms vis-à-vis whole area and pilgrim places like Mathwar, Ambaran at Akhnoor, Showa Mata, Oli Mata Temple etc, will get opened for Vaishno Devi Ji pilgrimage by which economy and development of the area will get major boost.
He appreciated the organizers for taking the initiative and asked the people for making it a regular routine so that this route is popularized and more and more people may take this route and asked administration for taking immediate steps for restoring and up grading the routes from Katra to Akhnoor and Kol Kandoli Nagrota via Bamyal.
Prominent among others who were present on the occasion included Chander Mohan Sharma, Sarpanch Ram Singh, Uttam Singh, Lal Hussain Lodha, Subhash Chander, Vijay Sharma and Suraj Singh.
