JAMMU, Apr 2: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) J&K has filed a chargesheet before the designated court against one person for his alleged role in harbouring terrorists affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front (TRF) in connection with the killing of another individual in Thanamandi area of Rajouri district in 2024.
As per a press statement issued by the SIA, the case relates to an incident on April 22, 2024, when unidentified terrorists forcibly entered the residence of one Mohammad Razaq at Kunda in Shahdara Sharief area of Thanamandi and opened indiscriminate fire.
While Mohammad Razaq died on the spot, his brother Tahir Khurshid alias Tahir Fauji, a Territorial Army jawan, sustained injuries in the attack, it said.
Following the incident, the statement said a case was registered at Police Station Thanamandi and investigation was taken up.
It said considering the sensitivity of the case, the case was later transferred to the SIA for in-depth investigation.
During the probe, investigators collected crucial evidence from the scene and recorded statements of key witnesses under relevant provisions of law, the statement said.
Quoting investigations, the statement further said that the accused, Sabar Hussain, a resident of Khabalwali, Shahdara Sharief and at present living at Chamrer in Surankote area of Poonch district, had provided shelter, food and logistical support to three LeT/TRF terrorists at his seasonal hut in Chamrer between late June and early July 2024, thereby facilitating the execution of the terror attack.
According to officials, prima facie offences under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 have been established against the accused and the case has been charge sheeted accordingly.
