Chandi Maha Yagya being solemnized at Kheer Bhawani

JAMMU, May 8: For the first time in 23 years of turmoil in Kashmir valley, a Chandi Maha Yagya will be solemnized at Mata Kheer Bhawani shrine Tulmulla in Kashmir valley.
A three days Chandi Maha Yagya will be solemnized at Mata Kheer Bhawani shrine from May 17 to 19 by Pt Prem Nath Shastri Sanskritik Shodh Sansthan, chairman of the Sansthan Pt Omkar Nath Shastri told reporters here today.
He said the Bhoomi Poojan will be performed on May 17 by Governor, N N Vohra at 10 am at Mata Kheer Bhawani shrine which will be followed by Kalsh Pooja and Bhajan Sandhya in the evening on the same day. The hawan will start on May 18 morning and Puranahuti will be performed next day which will be followed by serving of prashad to devotees.
He said the Sansthan has finalized arrangements for the Maha Yagya as the devotees from different parts of the country are participating in the religious function which will be solemnized for restoration of peace and normalcy in the trouble –torn Valley and benefit of mankind.
The Shankaracharya of Kama Koti Peeth Kancipuram has consented to be the chief guest during the concluding function, said Jyotshi Avtar Krishan coordinator of the Organizing Committee. He said the Sansthan has made all arrangements of boarding and lodging for the devotees.
During the Chandi Maha Yagya the hymns will be recited by the learned Pandits and Shastris to invoke the blessings of gods and goddesses, he added.
