JAMMU, Aug 23: Chamber of Commerce & Industry Jammu president Arun Gupta has sought early rehabilitation of affected businessmen of Satwari and Nai Basti area.
The Chamber appreciated the UT Cabinet headed by Chief Minister for acknowledging the issues faced by the shopkeepers in Satwari. He hoped that Government is going to consider a rehabilitation plan for them shortly.
Gupta said that these shopkeepers have been severely impacted loosing both their business and livelihood due to construction of a flyover. He stated that the CCI has consistently supported the affected individuals and has raised the issue with both the Union and UT Governments.
He also mentioned that the Late Devinder Rana had previously appealed to the Government to take steps for their rehabilitation. The Government had, in the past promised to rehabilitate the affected shopkeepers.
Gupta appealed to the Government to create a clear roadmap and a comprehensive rehabilitation plan. He urged the Government to ensure proper allocation of alternate sites and adequate compensation for the affected shopkeepers.
CCI, Jammu president also called on the Government to provide relief and rehabilitation to the victims of the recent cloudburst tragedies in Kishtwar and Kathua.
Gupta appealed to the Government for adequate relief measures for those affected. He also urged the public and the business community to come forward and contribute to the rehabilitation of the cloudburst victims in their districts.
