SAMBA, Jan 3: A four-day training programme on NALSA Scheme, for the members of the Legal Service Unit for Persons with Mental Illness and Intellectual Disabilities, and Legal Services Unit for Children (LSUC), commenced today at the Conference Hall of ADR Centre, DLSA Samba.
The event is being organized by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Samba under the chairmanship of Ravinder Nath Wattal, Chairman DLSA Samba/Principal District & Sessions Judge Samba and under the supervision of Sandeep Singh Sen, Secretary DLSA Samba. The initiative aims to enhance the understanding and implementation of the NALSA Scheme.
The programme was inaugurated by DLSA Samba in presence of Child Welfare Committee, Samba Superintendent of Palaash (Home for Boys) and Pareesha (Home for Girls), Principal Magistrate Juvenile Justice Board Samba and members of JJB Samba and LSUM members, Panel Lawyers of DLSA Samba and PLVs of DLSA Samba.
Bala Jyoti, (advisor/mentor of the committee) addressed the participants virtually. She emphasized the need for effective implementation of the scheme and provided valuable insights on the role of LSUM and LSUC in bridging the gap between the legal system and vulnerable individuals.
Secretary DLSA Samba elaborated on the objectives of the orientation programme, underscoring its importance in equipping the participants with the necessary knowledge and tools to implement the scheme effectively.
Cheema Sumbraria (Principal Magistrate, Juvenile Justice Board Samba) and Neemisha Rajput (Chairperson, CWC Samba), shared their practical experiences in the field, providing the participants with a firsthand perspective on handling cases related to children.
The four-day programme is poised to be a significant step in fostering collaboration and understanding among stakeholders, ultimately aiming to ensure better legal aid and support for persons with mental and intellectual disabilities in the region and children in need of care and protection.
