UDHAMPUR, June 8: Acting swiftly, Police today arrested a chain snatcher within two hours of a chain snatching incident in the town and recovered the snatched gold chain from the accused.
The accused, identified as Irshad Sheikh alias Naveeda, son of Ghulam Qadir of Ward number 11, Shiv Nagar, Udhampur, had snatched gold chain of Kanta Devi, wife of Late Tara Chand of Arya Samaj Gali, Udhampur after restraining her and fled away from the spot.
On receiving a complaint in this regard, a case FIR number 189/2021 U/S 382 was registered in Police Station Udhampur and investigation was started. During the course of investigation, Police team, led by SHO Udhampur, Chaman Gorka succeeded in arresting the accused person and also recovered the gold chain from his possession.
Further investigation is going on to ascertain his involvement in other cases.
