
CS highlights initiatives of GoI for welfare of pensioners

JAMMU, Dec 17: The Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association (CGPWA) Jammu today celebrated 43rd National Pensioners’ Day.
On this occasion CGPWA demanded amendment in Terms of Reference (ToR) of 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC).
It also demanded withdrawal of ‘Validation of the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules and the Principles for Expenditure on Pension Liabilities from the Consolidated Fund of India’, which is part of the Finance Act 2025.
Chief Secretary (CS), Atal Dulloo, was chief guest on this occasion and he said that Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitaraman has made it clear in the Parliament that pension will not be excluded from 8th CPC’s purview.
He listed out many initiatives of the Government of India for the welfare of pensioners like Unified Pension Scheme, DLCs, doorstep banking facility, universal health cover in J&K under Ayushman for above 70 year scheme, Income Tax reliefs etc.
The event was presided over by CGPWA president, Kuldeep Khoda. Among others present on the occasion were Dr. Ashok Bhan, Ashok Angurana and B.R Sharma.
Earlier CGPWA general secretary K.B Jandial delivered welcome address.
Dulloo assured that action would be taken soon for final redressal including disbursal of pension on fixed date of the month from J&K Bank irrespective of day being bank holiday or not.
Earlier, Dr. Rohan Gupta, Senior Consultant ENT of Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, in his Health Talk on ‘ENT concerns of Elderly’ counselled the pensioners for taking preventing steps to minimise the impact of aging on hearing, vocal cord and nasal problems.
He announced a free ENT Camp at Narayana Hospital Gandhi Nagar OPD on 20th December from 10 am to 3 pm.
Khoda shared with Chief Secretary the activities of the CGPWA.
CGPWA vice president, Dr. Sudarshan Kumar presented formal vote of thanks.
Nisar Ahmad conducted the proceedings. Both Dulloo and Dr. Rohan Gupta were honoured.
Khoda also presented to the Chief Secretary latest copies of the publications of the CGPWA.
