JAMMU, Oct 6: The Central Government has approved a 3% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees, raising the rate from 55% to 58% of the basic pay. The revised rates will take effect from July 1, 2025.

According to an order issued today by the Department of Expenditure, Union Ministry of Finance, the revised DA will be applicable to all Central Government employees, including those paid from Defence Services Estimates. Separate notifications will be issued for Armed Forces personnel and Railway employees by the respective Ministries.
The Ministry clarified that DA will continue to be treated as a distinct component of remuneration and not form part of the basic pay. Payments involving fractions of 50 paise and above will be rounded off to the next higher rupee.
The order was issued after due consultation with the Comptroller and Auditor General of India for employees in the Indian Audit and Accounts Department.
