The team visited several districts, including Anantnag, Shopian, Pulwama, and Budgam, to inspect affected areas, review relief measures, and interact with local authorities.
Earlier this week, heavy rains caused the swollen Jhelum River to breach its banks, flooding homes, roads, and fields. While no loss of life was reported in the Valley, the floods inflicted significant losses on agriculture and horticulture, particularly paddy fields and apple orchards.

The IMCT visited Anantnag district to assess damages caused by recent heavy rainfall and natural calamities. During a review meeting with the district administration, the Deputy Commissioner Anantnag presented a detailed briefing covering the extent of damage, relief measures such as evacuation of vulnerable families, provision of temporary shelters, restoration of connectivity, health and sanitation interventions, and requirements for long-term rehabilitation.
The meeting also discussed a comprehensive flood mitigation and resilience-building plan to strengthen disaster preparedness in the district. Following the briefing, the IMCT conducted field visits to assess damages to river embankments, roads, nallahs, and public infrastructure, and reviewed immediate restoration priorities.
Officials highlighted that the Union Government is closely monitoring the situation and will extend full financial and logistical support for relief, rehabilitation, and long-term mitigation measures in Anantnag.
The IMCT also reviewed flood impacts in Shopian district, where Deputy Commissioner Shishir Gupta detailed damages to public infrastructure, including roads, bridges, water supply schemes, power assets, and standing crops in lower riparian villages of Zainapora subdivision.
The IMCT directed departments to compile detailed damage reports for submission to the Central Government to facilitate immediate relief and long-term resilience planning.
In Pulwama, the IMCT, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Basharat Qayoom and other officials, conducted field visits to flood-affected areas, including Drangbal, Pampore, and Khadermoh Kakapora. They met local residents and reviewed ongoing relief measures. The team took special note of river bunds and flood-prone areas, expressing hope for a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to address flood protection comprehensively.
The team also toured flood-hit areas of Budgam district, including Shalina, Panzan Bridge, and Bus Adda Chadoora, where the district administration briefed them on ongoing relief, restoration, and long-term resilience measures.
