Central Sanskrit University signs MoU with IIT Hyderabad

JAMMU, June 4: In a significant step towards bridging India’s ancient knowledge systems with modern scientific and technological frameworks, the Central Sanskrit University and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
This partnership aims not only to preserve the Sanskrit language but also to integrate it with contemporary fields such as technology, science and research.
Under the terms of the MoU, both institutions will collaborate on joint research initiatives, academic exchange, technical training, and modern skill development. This alliance seeks to create a vital link between traditional Indian knowledge and present-day scientific innovation.
The MoU was signed during a formal meeting attended by key dignitaries including Prof B S Murty, Director of IIT Hyderabad; Prof Mohan Raghavan, and Prof SrinivasaVarakhedi, Vice Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University. Both institutions discussed a forward-looking action plan which includes Sanskrit-based curriculum development, joint workshops, and collaborative research projects.
Coinciding with this MoU, a 21-day Summer School Program was also launched, offering participants training in a wide range of contemporary subjects. Key areas of training include research enhancement, problem-based learning, technical writing, project-based research, coding and digital media technology, scientific communication, as well as life and leadership skills.
A major focus of the program is personality development and leadership building.
Vice Chancellor of the Sanskrit University, Prof Varakhedi remarked, “this MoU is a historic step in reviving India’s knowledge heritage. We see Sanskrit not merely as a language, but as a carrier of science, philosophy and culture.”
Under this collaboration, future initiatives include the development of technical vocabulary in Sanskrit, AI-based analysis of Sanskrit texts, creation of digital learning content, and the organization of cultural and scientific conferences.
