Central Mahajan Sabha pays tributes to Lala Hans Raj on birth anniversary

JAMMU, Nov 8: Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha today paid glowing tributes to Sher-e-Duggar and founder of Mahajan Sabha, Lala Hans Raj Mahajan, on his 149th birth anniversary.
In this connection, an impressive function was held at Mahajan Bhawan, Shalamar Road Jammu, wherein Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, was the chief guest. Former Union Minister, Prof Chaman Lala Gupta presided over the function, which was attended by MoS Finance, Pawan Gupta as the guest of honour and MLA Rajesh Gupta; MLC Vivodh Gupta; MLC Naresh Gupta; Vice-Chairman Pahari Board, Kuldeep Gupta; ex MLC Ved Mahajan, ex-MLC Rattan Lal Gupta and Principal of GMC Jammu, Dr Ghanshyam Gupta as the special guests.
While paying tributes, Kavinder Gupta and other speakers described Lal Hans Raj Mahajan as great social reformer and recalled his services to people, irrespective of caste or religion. They advised the community for maintaining unity and following the path shown by Lala Hans Raj Mahajan.
Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, in his presidential address, said that real tribute to Lala Hans Mahajan would by to follow the path shown by him and work for upliftment of the society. He also stressed for unity and work in a team spirit.
MLA Jammu-East, Rajesh Gupta, in his address, announced that the project regarding renovation and construction of additional block of the Mahajan Bhawan, would be fully funded by him from the Constituency Development Fund.
Speaking on the occasion, president of Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha, Vinod Gupta highlighted the activities of the Sabha. Expressing concern over some prevailing social evils in the society, he urged the Government to strictly implement Guest Control Act for keeping a check on wasteful expenditure on lavish marriage parties.
Chander Mohan Gupta, general secretary of the Sabha and Amar Chand Gupta, patron, also spoke on the occasion. Vote of thanks was presented by Om Parkash Gupta, vice-president of the Sabha.
Earlier, the Mahajan Sabha felicitated all the guests with traditional Dogra turbans and mementoes. This was followed by Saraswati Vandna, presented by the students and other items, which were highly appreciated. The programme commenced with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by guests.
On the occasion, the Sabha also honoured meritorious students of the community. Mahajan youth, who had solemnized marriage this year without dowry, were also felicitated. The number of such persons was more than 60.
