SANKOO, Oct 9: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today visited Stangkung village, where he inspected the preservation and development work at the Tomb of Akhoon Mohd Sharif — an important historical and religious heritage site.
During the visit, local residents expressed concerns regarding the quality of the ongoing work and requested proper implementation of the project being executed under the Kargil Development Authority (KDA).
Taking serious note of the issue, the CEC immediately forwarded the complaint of the Stangkung villagers regarding the Tomb project to CEO KDA and also forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner Kargil, for necessary action and monitoring.
He assured the public that appropriate directions would be issued to ensure that the project is executed in accordance with approved standards and that the historical site is preserved with utmost care and authenticity.
Following the visit, the CEC inspected the office of the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department, Suru Valley Division, where he met Executive Engineer R&B, Syed Mehdi.
He reviewed the status of ongoing and pending works, and discussed issues related to under-construction projects and land compensation.
