CEC Gyalson reviews progress of project Tsangda

LEH, May 16: To assess the progress of Project Tsangda, LAHDC Leh’s flagship solid waste management initiative, Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson convened a review meeting here today.
The meeting aimed to evaluate the current functioning of the project and explore ways to strengthen and streamline its operations.
During the meeting, the Chairman stressed the importance of establishing a more dedicated and efficient structure to manage waste in the district.
It was discussed that a mandate could be framed to make the waste management system more independent and functional.
A proposal was also considered to merge Project Tsangda with the Ladakh Renewable Energy Development Agency (LREDA), with the aim of forming a dedicated team to oversee solid waste management efforts under a consolidated mechanism.
A draft for the proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with LREDA is currently under process.
Administrative Secretary, RDD, UT Ladakh, Shashanka Ala also shared her views on the importance of streamlining existing processes and improving interdepartmental coordination for the sustainability of the initiative.
Among others who attended the meeting included Deputy Chairman, Tsering Angchuk, Executive Councillors Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, Stanzin Chosphel and Ghulam Mehdi, DC/CEO, LAHDC Leh Santosh Sukhadeve, A G Zargar, Akeel Sajjad, Iftikar Hussain and Syed Sajjad Qadri.
