LEH, May 22 : The Leh Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) are preparing for a significant round of talks with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), scheduled for May 27 in New Delhi.
Leh Apex Body Co-Chairman Chering Dorjay confirmed that the delegation from Leh will be led by former Member of Parliament and Apex Body Chairman Thupstan Chhewang. A delegation from the Kargil Democratic Alliance is also expected to attend the meeting.
The high-powered committee meeting will be chaired by the Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai, and formal invitations have already been extended to the Ladakhi leaders. The agenda will focus on a range of pending issues previously submitted to the Government of India for resolution.
Dorjay expressed hope that this round of discussions will be productive. “We are hoping that some unresolved issues from the previous meetings, including the recruitment matter, will be taken up again. We are hopeful for discussion on main issues, such as statehood status for Ladakh and the inclusion of the region under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution as well,” he said.
He further added that if the meeting yields no substantial progress, the Apex Body and KDA will deliberate on the next course of action.
