JAMMU, Dec 23: While appreciating Government move to provide land to the flood- hit victims in the Jammu and Kashmir, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu today expressed disappointment that no specific relief or compensation was mentioned for those who suffered huge financial losses or whose land was eroded by the floods.
Arun Gupta president Chamber of Commerce and Industry demanded that Government should come forward and earmark sufficient funds for providing relief and to rehabilitate the people who have suffered huge losses as well as whose land has been eroded by these flashfloods.
Gupta appreciated the decision of the UT Cabinet to provide Rs 118 crores to Jammu Central Cooperative Bank and Anantnag Central Cooperative Bank for their revival and strengthening them on financial and other fronts.
Industry appreciated the decision of the J&K UT Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for giving nod to the policy for allotment of 5 marla land to the people whose houses were destroyed by the flash-floods, landslides and cloud bursts during the recent monsoon season.
Gupta also urged the Government that the Citizen’s Cooperative Bank Ltd. Jammu be also provided suitable financial assistance for its revival and rehabilitation on the pattern of Jammu Central Cooperative Bank and Anantnag Central Cooperative Bank.
