CCF visits family of deceased forest official, assures full support

SRINAGAR, Dec 8: To offer condolences and express solidarity with the bereaved family, the Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Irfan Rasool visited the residence of the martyred forest official, Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, at Verinag today.
Sheikh lost his life in the line of duty while bravely combating a forest fire in the Kapran forests.
During the visit, the CCF assured the family of the department’s complete support during this difficult time.
He conveyed that all post-death benefits including family pension, appointment of an eligible family member under the Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme and compensation under the Benevolent Fund will be processed on priority.
With regard to welfare provisions for frontline staff including risk allowance and 2.5 days’ salary compensation for field duty, the CCF stated that these matters will be pursued vigorously for timely approval and implementation.
He also emphasized the department’s commitment to improving the safety and welfare of frontline forest staff and announced that enhanced safety equipment will be provided to all field personnel to ensure better protection during fire-fighting and other high-risk operations.
The CCF was accompanied by Nadeem, Mohammad Ashraf Katoo, DFO Awantipora, DFO Sindh, DFO Bandipora, DFO Lidder, Wildlife Warden South, Dy Director FPF Lidder and Range officer Verinag.
