JAMMU, June 27: The Special Crime Wing (SCW) of the Crime Branch (Crime Branch) Jammu has filed a chargesheet in a land fraud case involving a fake property deal in the Bishnah area.
As per officials, the chargesheet was filed in case FIR number 38 of 2023 registered under Section 420 IPC at Police Station Special Crime Wing against one Rishi Kumar of Greater Kailash, now living in Channi Himmat.
They said the case was filed on the basis of a complaint by a Government employee, who was searching for a residential plot in Jammu to reduce his travel from Kathua to Janipur.
To cheat the employee, they said, the accused allegedly posed as the owner of a 7-marla plot at Khasra number 326 in Chak Lala, Bishnah, and offered to sell it at Rs 2.40 lakh per marla.
“Trusting his claims, the complainant paid an advance of Rs 8.90 lakh in instalments. However, when asked to execute the sale deed, the accused began avoiding him. Later, it was found that Rishi Kumar had no legal right over the land,” officials said.
Accordingly, the Crime Branch launched an investigation under the supervision of SSP Sanjay Parihar and found that the accused had cheated the complainant with deliberate intent, they said.
Officials further said that the probe confirmed that false claims were made to fraudulently obtain money.
After completion of the investigation, they said, a chargesheet was filed in the Electricity Court, Jammu today, with accused also presented in the court for further proceedings.
