JAMMU, Nov 7: The Special Crime Wing (SCW) of the Crime Branch (CB) Jammu today filed a charge sheet in Rs 14 lakh fraud case.
SSP Special Crime Wing, Sandeep Mehta said that the charge sheet has been presented against one Gulzar Ahmed Wani of Kherwan, Lassipora, Wanpoh, District Anantnag in case FIR number 23 of 2023 under section 420 of the RPC registered at Police Station SCW Crime Branch Jammu before the Court of law at Reasi.
He said the fraudster duped the complainant Mohammad Sultan son of Malli of Jij Bagli Thakarkote, District Reasi and 7 other persons of Rs 14.40 lakh on the pretext of providing them jobs in different Government departments.
According to him, after receiving the money, when the accused started avoiding the complainants on one or the other pretexts, they approached the Crime Branch Jammu with a complaint.
On receipt of their complaint, the police officer said that a preliminary verification was initiated by the Crime Branch Jammu and during the course of enquiry, the allegations were prima-facie substantiated against the accused, leading to the registration of a formal case against him under the relevant sections of the law.
After a thorough investigation by a team led by IO Deepak Bharti, the case was finally proved against the accused person, said the police official, adding that accordingly a charge sheet was presented against him in the court of CJM Reasi for judicial determination.
Meanwhile, the SSP SCW has cautioned the general public not to fall prey to the fraudsters who are hell bent to usurp the hard earned money of the commoners by their deceitful tacts.
