CBK books former employee of police for duping

SRINAGAR, Jan 17: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir today booked a former employee of the Police Department for allegedly duping several people on the pretext of providing Government jobs.

In a statement issued here, the Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) said it registered a case following a written complaint received by the EOW, Srinagar. The identity of the accused has not been disclosed.

According to the CBK, the complainants alleged that the accused fraudulently collected around Rs 23 lakh by promising Government employment.
It was further alleged that the accused issued fake appointment orders and supplied forged documents, including identity cards, licences, appointment letters, and fabricated police and CID verification reports.
Upon receipt of the complaint, a preliminary inquiry was initiated, during which the allegations were found to be prima facie substantiated, the CBK said.
The investigation revealed that the accused had systematically cheated the complainants of their hard-earned money by issuing fake job orders under false assurances of Government employment, it added.
Consequently, the CBK said, a case has been registered at Police Station EOW, Srinagar, under Sections 420, 467, 468, and 471 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC).
Further investigation into the matter is underway, the agency said.
